Ullapool is surprisingly camper van friendly. Throughout the day there is a free car park that is extremely centrally located, however, it does not allow overnight parking. Thankfully, there is a lay-by within a 3-minute drive from Ullapool that is perfect to park overnight in. Although it has no frills, it certainly does the job.
The lay-by is reasonably far removed from the road and therefore you don’t feel like you are in any danger of being hit. It is also rather large, so you could easily fit 6 or 7 vans – maybe more.
This parking spot is sheltered from the wind, but not sheltered from passers-by, therefore going for a wild pee (or poop) is tricky… unless you have no modesty!
Although this place to park overnight in Ullapool is not pretty, it does the trick if you are planning to stay for just one night!
Note: Ullapool is fantastic for running errands. There is a large shop (Tesco) and free toilet and shower facilities in the centre of the village. Finally, there is even a laundry place!
