Visiting the infinity pool on mount Snowdon is one of the best experiences you can have in North Wales. The infinity pool is easily one of Wales’s best-kept secrets, but we are willing to spill a few home truths! This post does not disclose the location of the pool, but it does discuss a few other things you can expect to find when going in search of the infinity pool on the Llanberis pass.

There is a Lack of Parking
Once you have located the infinity pool on the Llanberis pass, you may think it will be plain sailing to find it. WRONG! The first obstacle you will face will be finding a parking space that isn’t miles away! The Llanberis pass is not only a popular spot for those looking for the infinity pool, it is also the most gradual path up to the summit of Mount Snowdon. As well as this, it is also a highly regarded area for rock climbing and bouldering. Therefore you are competing with a lot of people to get one of the very few parking spaces available.
Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about this as it just takes a bit of luck! We recommend arriving early in the morning or as the sun begins to set for the best chance of scoring a parking space.
This post has more details regarding parking on the Lanberis Pass.
The hike to the Llanberis Pass Infinty Pool can be challenging.
Although not the most demanding climb for a seasoned hiker, the hike up to the infinity pool still can be reasonably challenging to us, average folk.
Firstly, it can be boggy – even on a completely dry day. There are a lot of small streams that run down the mountain and make the ground extremely squelchy, particularly at the start of the hike. We advised to wearing waterproof hiking boots (like these ones – Karrimor Bodmin 5 Ladies Hiking Boots), or if not, bring a spare pair of socks! Once you have negotiated the wet area, you are faced with a reasonably steep ascent. It is completely manageable, however, it may take you approximately 20 minutes to scale it. If needed, there are plenty of areas you could take a rest on a rock.
The infinity pool is busier than you would expect.
Considering how little information is available about this elusive infinity pool online, it is truly surprising how busy it can be on a sunny day.
We went to the pool at the end of July 2021 and there were at least 10 people there at all times, often more than 10. Obviously, as time passes and more people become aware of this hidden gem, it will just keep getting busier, so we recommend going sooner rather than later. Perhaps plan your visit to the pool in autumn or spring when it may be a bit quieter and you may even get to enjoy the pool by yourself.
Its not very deep
The pool is not very deep at all. Its not even deep enough to actually swim in. At its deepest point, it is no more than a meter in depth. However the majority of the pool is approximately 30cm or less. Therefore, if you are looking to take a photo, you will have to work the angles in order to make it look convincingly deep!
There is a small waterfall leading into the infinity pool
Most people don’t realise that as well as the stunning infinity pool, there is a small series of waterfalls that cascade down the mountain right next to it. These waterfalls are beautiful… and extremely cold.
Top tip: you can position yourself so you can get the waterfall and the summit of Mount Snowdon in one photo. It really is quite beautiful!
It’s on Mount Snowdon
This one may be obvious to most people, but it certainly wasn’t to us. We were aware that the infinity pool was in Snowdonia National Park, however, we did not realise it was on Mount Snowdon, the largest mountain in Wales.
Once you reach the infinity pool, you can even see the summit!
This secretive infinity pool is undeniably one of the most unique experiences you can have when visiting Snowdonia, North Wales. Unfortunately, as there is almost no information regarding the Llanberis Pass infinity pool online, it can be easy to be overwhelmed or caught out when trying to find it – we certainly were!
