Where to park overnight in Chester

Chester is one of the most unique and beautiful cities in the UK. Unfortunately, there are very few options in Chester where you can park for free. However, you can park overnight on the banks of the Chester Canal, just slightly out of the city centre.

Chester is a stunning medieval cathedral city located on the banks of the River Dee. This quaint town is one of the best-preserved walled cities in the UK and is home to some of the most incredible (photogenic) architecture.

This parking spot is very tranquil as it is slightly removed from the roadside. It is located next to a grassy park, a children’s play park (behind a line of trees), and of course, the canal.

From this spot, you can walk right into the centre of Chester by simply following the canal path. There are also nearby buses if you don’t fancy walking!

Although we think this is a top-notch place to park overnight, it’s quite far out from Chester city centre. If you want to park somewhere more centrally located you may have to pay. For example, Little RooDees Carpark costing £5 for up to 12hrs, £8 for up to 24hrs, or £1.50 if you arrive after 6 pm.

We certainly think so! It is a short commute from the stunning medieval city of Chester, but worth it.
