Where to park overnight near Zaragoza

Zaragoza is one of the most underrated cities in Spain, it has an impressive mix of stunning architecture, history, shopping, and fine dining. It is the perfect blend of the old and the new.

Zaragoza is a reasonably large city with somewhat limited options of places to wild camp overnight. We opted to stay at a nearby campsite.

The campsite we stayed at did not appear to have a name, and also appeared closed when we arrived. You have to phone the campsite when you arrive (the phone number is on the front gates) in order to get in. It is located 12 miles from the center of Zaragoza. It has electrical hook-up points at a limited number of bays, showers (pretty cold), grey and black waste disposal areas, and a freshwater tap. Other than what is listed the facility is extremely basic, this is reflected in the price – €15.

This campsite is extremely large and tidy. Each bay is surrounded by small trees. It also feels extremely safe, as not only are the front gates locked overnight, the owners also have guard dogs protecting their property.

Although this campsite is extremely basic and we don’t necessarily recommend it – it was the best of a bad situation, and we would stay there again if we were to visit Zaragoza.

There are a few alternative spots in the city that can be found on park for night, all of which had a fairly poor rating. We stayed in one parking spot right next to the castle throughout the day. It was perfect for walking into the city center, however, it was extremely unlevel, the ground was slightly muddy, and there were no facilities such as bins or toilets. We would not have wanted to stay there overnight.

Although neither park-up spot I have commented on above has a particularly glowing review, the campsite really is a budget-friendly practical choice for anyone looking to charge their batteries, get a shower, and fill up and empty their water tanks! For €15 you really can’t go far wrong!
